Fotoflex - How It Works

MyChristmasCard.com has added two new dimensions to the standard photo Christmas card.  First, we have created photo greeting cards - real, folded greeting cards - with not just one personalized photo frame, but multiple frames.  Second, we built into those cards the capability for multiple text (for greetings, letters, and names) that are limited only by your creativity and the space on the card!  True customization.

Those features alone significantly challenge the way photo Christmas cards have traditionally been seen.   Combine that with our commitment to original artwork and design, and you have a  product that is unmatched.

At MyChristmasCard.com, the process of creating your own, unique Christmas card is intuitive and straightforward.  The proprietary software to do that - fotoflex™ - is built into this website, and is offered free of charge.  We recommend you have a cable or dsl connection, and your screen settings set to a resolution of 1024x768 or higher.  You will also need the latest version of Adobe Flash - Flash 8.0 or higher (installed on most newer pc's, but also available free here:  Adobe Flash Player Download Center).

The following is a step by step introduction to fotoflex™ -

First step -  go to the Cards page and select the style that you want.  Some are more serious, some more playful.  All of them are designed exclusively for MyChristmasCard.com, and all of them will be an individual expression once your personal photos are included!
For this example, we choose "Snowflake" from the details page.  To head for the design we press the "fotoflex" button here - you can also select your card straight off of the Cards page.
Straightforward login page - check the "New User" box at the top if this is your first time through - if you have been here before, just log in...
After entering a name for the card, we come to the first step: select our card design, and select our front cover.  Some cards, like Snowflake, have multiple covers to choose from.  Others have only one style.  Just click on the cover you want and it will drop into the template to the right.
Next, we upload our photos.  Here, we upload over 5 megabytes on a standard cable connection...

...and our images arrive into our library in about 2 minutes.

Next, we use our mouse to "drag and drop" our family photo into the template.  Once there, the graphic tools in the middle of the page are used to zoom in or out, or move photos laterally.  You can also use your mouse to manipulate the image in the template.
Here we use the zoom tool (the small magnifying glass in the middle of the tool section with the + on it) to tighten up the shot.
The next step is to add text to the cover.  Even though the original template does not include text, fotoflex provides the flexibility to do so if you wish.  We choose not to, but the tool is there if you want - completely your choice!
Now to the interior of the card.  First select the template; with this card you can select any color you want - mix and match, or go with the same color as your cover.  Here, we choose the red interior to go with the brown cover.

Drag and drop photos from the library into the template, once again using the fotoflex graphic tools to help maximize the look of each one.  If you want more photos, use the upload button at any time.
Next is the interior text.  The original text is there for you to either keep or change.  We plan to change it, and begin at the top...

...changing the original "Season's Greetings" to "Merry Christmas".
Then, we change "and best wishes for the year to come" to "and a very happy new year" - and personalize the family information.  None of this is complicated - just highlight (click on) the copy you want to change, and it appears in the text box at the lower left.  Then remove the text that is there, and replace it with what you want.  You can change the font, the color, the size - everything is easily customized to your taste.
And here is our finished card.  Looks great - except we now are not as thrilled with our brown cover and red interior combo.  So, using the navigation bar at the top, we move back to step 1 and 2, to select the red front.
  This looks better...
...so back to step 6.  Finished!  We suggest you proof your card, particularly text, for spelling.  Once you are satisfied, check out your proofs using the "Viewprint" function, approve them, and head for checkout.  A completely unique, customized, multi-image Christmas card is yours!
